Career Finder Quiz

Searching for a job?  Need to figure out what that next step is you want to take in life?  Not really sure what career is best suited for you?  We’ve all been there.  We’ve all wondered what would make us feel like work wasn’t really “work”.  I want to share with you some tips on using a career finder quiz to help you find those answers.

What is a career finder quiz?  Well, it’s a test you take to help guide you towards the things you’re good at.  The quiz can help you narrow down the many job choices.  Let’s say you want a job that lets you help people.  There are a lot of jobs that fit that description.  But pretend you were looking at a quiz and one of the questions is “Are you afraid of heights?”  If the answer is yes, you’ve just eliminated jobs involving a ladder, such as being a firefighter.  Does the sight of blood make you queasy?  If so, stay away from medical school.  Doctors and nurses must deal with those kinds of things.

A quiz also helps you determine your skill sets.  Maybe you like working with hair.  But should you become a barber, a hairstylist, or a wig salesman?  If you choose barbering, you have to have a certain eye for detail to cut people’s hair straight.  If you prefer a hairstylist, you must have good taste and understand the fashions of the day.  Finally, if you decide on a wig salesman, you’ll need to have a flare for persuading people and interacting with customers.  On most quizzes, you simply check the things you enjoy doing.

Finally, a career finder quiz can assist you with making the decision between going straight into the job market or going on to higher education at a college or university.  Although some people say that a person with a college education  has better opportunities, some graduates also find that once they spend the extra years studying, the job market is still scarce.  That’s not to say don’t go to college—it’s simply to say that you must look at everything objectively and not go in with presuppositions about college always being the best choice (or vica versa).

Where do you find these quizzes?  You can find a career finder quiz by running searches on Google, Yahoo, or other engines.  You can also call up your local public school or post-secondary institution and an administrator there (such as a teacher or guidance counselor) may have access to resources such as a quiz.  Whether you’re interesting in computers or engineering, finding just the right job just got a whole lot easier!
